This summit wqas specially held to deliberate on the topic of Sustainable Development. It was called Earth Summit-10 because it was a decadal review of the Agenda-21 set in the Earth summit at Rio-de-Janerio in 1992. In this summit, it was held that the Kyoto protocol is a must to control the climate change and its time bound implementation was stressed upon. Other areas which were stressed upon were the conservation of bio-diversity and control of the species destruction by the year 2015. The target for extended use of non-conventional energy was also kept by the year of 2015.
